Become a Notary Public in Utah

 
   

To become a notary in Utah, a candidate must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Lawfully reside in this state 30 days immediately preceding the filing for a notarial commission and maintain permanent residency thereafter
  • Be able to read, write, and understand English
  • Purchase a Utah notary public bond* in the sum of $5,000 written for a term of four (4) years
  • Be a Utah resident or have permanent resident status
  • Be endorsed by two residents of the state who are over the age of 18
  • Take and Pass the Utah notary exam
  • Complete the Utah notary application
