Become a Notary Public in Oklahoma

 
   

To become a notary public in the State of Oklahoma, an applicant must be:

  • eighteen years of age or older,
  • a citizen of the United States, and
  • employed within Oklahoma or be a legal resident of this state.

You may apply online to become an Oklahoma Notary. Upon approval, commissions are e-mailed with a Notary Guide and a blank surety bond form containing an oath of office and a loyalty oath. Commissions are valid for four years. If corrections are needed, the application will be returned with a letter of explanation. Upon receipt of your commission, a notary seal will need to be purchased and you must purchase a four year $1,000.00 surety bond*.

There is a $25.00 fee to file an application for a new notary commission. The fee to file an application for a renewal of a commission is $20.00. File the notary bond form and a $10.00 fee with the Office of the Secretary of State, 2300 N. Lincoln Blvd., Room 101, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73105-4897.
