Become a Notary Public in Mississippi

 
   

To become a notary public in the State of Mississippi, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Mississippi resident for more than 30 days
  • Obtain an official seal or stamp to affix to documents
  • Comply with the statutes governing Mississippi Notary Acts and maintain a registry of all documents signed

Every application for a notary commission shall be made on the Application for Notary Public Commission (SOS Form NP 001) and include:

  • a statement of the applicant's personal qualifications;
  • a four (4) year $5,000.00 notary bond* from a surety licensed by the Mississippi Department of Insurance;
  • the official oath of office;
  • such other information as the Secretary of State may deem appropriate; and
  • the $25.00 application fee.
